Blackwall Tunnel queues after lorry driver suspects stowaways on board
POLICE were called to the Blackwall Tunnel this morning after a lorry driver suspected stowaways were hiding in the back of his vehicle.
Traffic was held on A102 Blackwall Tunnel Approach northbound following the incident at 8.20am and lanes reopened at 8.40am.
A Met Police spokesman says the HGV driver believed he had illegal immigrants on board and traffic was stopped while police investigated.
He added that any stowaways would be detained by police before being passed on to the immigration services.
