THERE is just one housing block left of Kidbrooke's Ferrier Estate, as demolition work reaches its conclusion.
The block at Telemann Square, once home to shops, flats and a community centre is all that remains of the 1968 housing estate which is being replaced with the £1bn Kidbrooke Village development.
Berkeley Homes' project will span 20 years, building 4,000 homes across four different "neighbourhoods", with work having started at Blackheath Quarter last year and Meridian Gate in January.
The final Ferrier building is being demolished to make way for Kidbrooke Village Centre, including a new transport interchange, Sainsbury’s supermarket, community and leisure facilities.
Berkeley chairman John Anderson said: "There has been a huge amount of progress at Kidbrooke Village over the past year and those who have not visited the development for some time will be amazed at the transformation.
"A vibrant new community is now becoming a reality and each exciting milestone that we achieve reflects even more so the future shape of things to come."
