HE'S used to rocking all over the world but one Sydenham-born rock singer had a change from the Status Quo when he visited his old school.

Francis Rossi dropped in to Our Lady and St Philip Neri Primary School to see how the place had changed since his time there in the 1950s.

Pupils held a question and answer session with the singer and there was a even a 40-strong brass band playing Quo hits.

Head of school Andrew Barber said the star, who attended when the school was still run by nuns with a strong sense of discipline, was "quite choked up" by the visit.

He said: "He told the pupils this was the last place he felt really safe and secure.

"And he told them they should always strive to be better - not to be perfect but to be better. The children really latched on to that."
