A MOTORIST who died after he got out of a car when it stopped on the M25 in Surrey was a 53-year-old man from Dartford, police have revealed.

Nahinmu Okafor Nicholas was killed after he got out of a Ford Focus in one of the live lanes near a section where roadworks were taking place.

He was walking along the hard shoulder when a white Renault lorry collided with the stationary car, which is believed to have had its lights off.

It then collided with him at about 4.30am on April 10.

Ambulance staff treated him at the scene but he was pronounced dead shortly after 5am.

An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned.

The motorway was closed for several hours after the crash which happened on the clockwise stretch between junction six and junction seven.

The other occupant of the car, who was in the vehicle when the collision happened, sustained minor injuries.
