A HUMAN chain will form around Lewisham Hospital this Saturday in a show of unity against proposed cuts to services.
Residents born at the hospital and those keen to defend its threatened maternity unit are urged to join hands around the building from 2pm.
The chain will need around 1,000 people and will be followed by family-friendly events in Ladywell Fields from 2.45 to 4pm.
Millwall footballers will also be championing the cause at the event organised by Save Lewisham Hospital Campaign.
Campaigner Jos Bell said: “We would love it if local people would come along. If you know anybody who has been born in Lewisham or given birth throughout the generations, come along and join hands around the hospital.
“It will be very much a family event to celebrate Lewisham maternity services through the generations. It’s celebrating the long-term treatment of fantastic maternity services in Lew.”
