A SNAPPING postman has scooped a Wildlife Photographer of the Year award for his shot of a Bexley swan in Foots Cray Meadows.
He was given the award by Kent Wildlife Trust for his photograph of a young swan.
Jason Steel, 41 of Watling Street, Bexleyheath, ran out of his home one morning last winter to take pictures of the foggy landscape.
He said: “It was really quiet, eerie and there was no wind.
“The swan swum up to me and as it drunk the water I snapped it.
“It’s one of those photos which you just know will be great.”
The father of two said: “It’s just hugely rewarding to win and I’m so grateful to be able to go out and see these things.
“I love wildlife and I love photography so to see these things is something I really enjoy.”
