MORE than 100 local school children have had their achievements recognised by the Mayor of Bexley.
Councillor Alan Downing presented the winners with their awards at the borough’s annual civic celebration of pupil achievement event on November 8 at the Civic Offices in Bexleyheath.
All primary and secondary schools were invited to nominate outstanding pupils for an award thanks to their academic achievement, progress, achievement in the field of arts and sports or service to the school community.
Cabinet member for education Cllr John Fuller said: "All too often people are quick to label or criticise our younger residents.
"Looking around here tonight, it shows you how many amazing kids we have in the borough.
"They are a credit to themselves, their families and their schools." This year 46 primary pupils and 60 secondary pupils won awards.
Photographs of the event were taken by students from Beths Grammar School.
