EX-BROMLEY teacher Jeremy Forrest has appeared in court today (November 12) via videolink charged with abducting a teenage girl.
The 30-year-old was arrested in Bordeaux in France on September 28 following the issuing of a European arrest warrant.
Following extradition to Britain, Forrest was charged by Sussex Police on October 10 with abducting a child, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.
He has been remanded in custody at HMP Lewes. At Brighton Magistrates' Court Scots-born Forrest, of Chislehurst Road, Petts Wood, south-east London, spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address during a 10-minute hearing.
No bail application was made by his solicitor Phil Smith.
Chairman of the bench Andrew Tiffen further remanded him into custody, and Forrest will appear again at Brighton Magistrates' Court via videolink for a committal hearing on December 3.
