AN EXTRA 210 school places could be available in Slade Green from 2014, if planning applications for improvement works are approved.

Plans have been submitted to extend and refurbish Slade Green Infant and Junior Schools to include more classrooms, a new kitchen facility and landscaping for additional play and sporting facilities.

Work could begin in January and finish in the autumn, with the school ready to open to students aged four to 11 in September 2014.

The work will be funded by an £8.5 million investment by Bexley Council, which will also provide improved facilities for clubs and organisations.

A consultation was held over the summer on design proposals, and for Slade Green Junior School to become part of the Haberdashers' Aske's Federation.

The last day for comments is November 28.
