A restaurant in Bromley is the second-best place to eat in London according to reservation website OpenTable.

Madisons Restaurant, of Homesdale Road, Bromley, has won the hearts (and stomachs) of fans with its big portions and classic American dishes.

The restaurant has also been given a TripAdvisor excellence award every year for the last three years.

Owner, Mark Lynch, 56, of Crofton Road, Orpington, said he didn’t know his business had nearly bagged the top spot until some customers told him.

He said: “We felt great, really proud. The strange thing is the customers told us. They came in because we got second place and we didn’t know anything about it. It was a big surprise.

“We are good at sourcing the right products. We are very particular on what type of meat we use. We don’t use mincemeat, we use chuck steak ground by our butcher.

“We also have our own recipe which my wife keeps a close, close secret.

“Our buns are made locally by a bakery just for us. Basically, we take a lot of pride and care in what we do.”

Madison’s is a family business where Mr Lynch works with his wife, and his children. He said the restaurant’s success is down to his family’s hard work and a fantastic kitchen team run by head chef Luke Davis.

“They work really hard, I’m really proud,” he said.

On TripAdvisor the restaurant has been judged excellent by 79 per cent of people.

Kirsty C said: “Went here for my birthday meal, staff are very lovely and accommodating.

“I received a card and bottle of wine for my birthday which was really sweet.

“Food was unbelievable; so tasty! But so big, you literally should make sure you don't eat for the whole day, before coming to Madison's.”

Chris_Eatherton said: “These are the best burgers in Bromley, and as good as any I've tasted in the UK.

“Better than Five Guys (and I love Five Guys) and having travelled a lot for work, particularly in the US. I've eaten in a lot of chop houses, steak houses, rib shacks, smokehouses and BBQs.”

Fans of the restaurant are especially fond of the restaurant’s OMG burger challenge.

Anybody who eats the OMG burger doesn't have to pay for it! But only 15 people have managed it out of around 3,000 attempts! The burger is made of two 8oz Angus beef patties and a whole chicken breast layered with mushrooms, cheese, bacon, onion rings, lettuce, mayonnaise, tomato and dill pickle.

The restaurant have an offer of half price steaks on Mondays and half price ribs on Tuesdays. To make a reservation for the restaurant call: 020 8460 7544.
