It has spent more than three decades entertaining audiences around the globe so the Rocky Horror Show doesn't need a lot of introducing to pack the stalls.

And the predictably flamboyant crowds flocked to the latest production dressed in the usual array of flesh revealing corsets, pink feather boas and blood red lipstick.

Crystal Maze genius Richard O'Brien penned his dark and playful peek into the world of sex and cross dressing way back in the 70s and the story hasn't really changed much over the years.

Although more controversial on its day, Rocky Horror holds no taboos for today's audience.

The more dedicated among the theatre goers even interjected with some jokes of their own, much to the amusement of both those on stage and off it.

The storyline has never been the show's strong point but what little plot there is sees newly engaged nerds Brad and Janet stumble upon a mysterious castle, before both stumbling into the clutches of Frank 'N' Furter.

David Bedella provided a stand out performance in this latest adaptation and drew laughs from across the age ranges with his portrayal of a slightly forlorn Frank – the cross-dressing bad guy.

His singing was effortless leaving you hungry for more and his likeness to Tim Curry, who played the character in the screen version, was uncanny.

TV chef Ainsley Harriott seemed to revel in his role as the narrator and was rewarded with a warm reception from the audience.

The unlikely theatre actor seemed slightly awkward on stage but maybe if he had learnt his lines he may well have pulled off a more assured performance.

The story itself, with the usual mix of scantly clad men and women clambering all over each other, was nothing out of the norm, although the creative use of props and set scenery kept the script ticking along throughout the hour and half show.

For musical lovers Rocky Horror is a British gem with the famous Time Warp getting the whole audience to it's feet for the finale.

Apart from having to witness Ainsley Harriott doing the pelvic thrust, the show was still an absolute pleasure to watch and was brought to life by an energetic and talented cast.

The Rocky Horror Show is currently showing at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley until Saturday (October 17).
