A unique obstacle race is coming to London for the first time this autumn, bringing your favourite TV game shows to life.
Rough Runner – which bills itself as completely different to other obstacle races – is heading to Clapham Common on September 19 and 20.
The organisers say it’s tough but not gratuitously painful. There’s no electrocution, fire or freezing but plenty of endurance and obstacles inspired by classic gameshows such as Takeshi’s Castle, Wipeout and Gladiator.
Founder Jonathan Geitner said: “We believe that the current obstacle course racing scene isn't
appealing to enough people.
“So many events out there do the same thing: military-style obstacles like climbing walls, mud pits, and barbed wire crawls. Some have dialled up the pain factor to excessive extremes, with ice baths and even tear gas.
“Not only do you have to be super fit to stand a chance of finishing the run, but also pretty nuts to want to do some of these 'challenges'.
“Our mission is to replace the pain of these events with pure fun, by bringing your favourite TV
game shows to life.
“We'll give you the chance to dodge sweeper arms, bounce through big balls, challenge the Cyclone and take on the Travelator.”
