An Indian restaurant in Bromley has triumphed at the British Curry Awards.

Shampan Bromley, in Chatterton Road, won the best in ‘Outer London Suburbs’ restaurant category on Monday (November 27).

The 13th British Curry Awards was held at the Battersea Evolution in Battersea Park.

The restaurant is owned by the Shampan Group, whose managing director Sufian Miah was handed a trophy during the event.

He said: “As a leading Indian restaurant group, we have been very fortunate to have an award for our restaurants at the British Curry Awards before, but this is the first time that Shampan Bromley has won.

“I’m completely over the moon and what this award does is not only validates all the hard work my team put in, but also the great love and loyalty our clientele have for us and I’m extremely grateful to them to have voted for us.”

This is the seventh time that Shampan Group has won at the British Curry Awards. Shampan Welling won the best in ‘Outer London Suburbs’ category in 2011, 2014 and 2016.

Shampan Group’s flagship restaurant Shampan at the Spinning Wheel won the ‘Newcomer of the Year’ award two years running in 2012 and 2013 before winning again in the Best in ‘South East’ restaurant category in 2015.

Earlier this year, Shampan Bromley had a makeover with increased seating and new food and drink menus.
