WELSH singer-songwriter Jem was touted as the next best thing since rarebit just a couple of years ago but has disappeared into thin air since.

Perhaps she was busy hiking in the Andes or hacking her way through the Amazon jungle in search of new material because now she's back with a fresh sound heaving with bossa nova and sexy samba beats.

The world seems to have gone Latin mad lately and if it hasn't got that Espanol flavour somewhere in the song, what are those crazy kids going to dance to?

I Want You To is billed as a heady song of lust and seduction and although it is produced by Lester Mendez, (the man behind Shakira and Nelly Furtado), it's no She-Wolf or Hips Don't Lie.

It has all the ingredients of a perfect Latin pop hit, but unlike a classic Paella pan it just doesn't stick long enough for you to remember it.

That said, it is a jaunty enough tune and a second listen will more than likely get that bum wiggling ever so slightly, even if you'll never make it to the Rio carnival.

Jem seems to have got a little hot under the collar when writing the song and said: "My first version of that song was so sexy, it was ridiculous."

"We really had to reel it in.

"I just had this vision of two people meeting on the dance floor, and basically wanting to ravish each other right there."

If Jem's new single I Want You To turns you on as much as it did her, it is available to buy now.
