This year, four Lewisham businesses have celebrated winning at both national and local awards.

From a family-run gourmet Indian restaurant in Forest Hill, to a MasterChef-run venue in Blackheath, we’ve rounded up all the award-winners this year.

Babur, Forest Hill

This year, Babur in Forest Hill has won a number of awards including Best Restaurant for London Suburbs at the Asian Restaurant Awards 2023, Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year at the Asian Curry Awards 2023 and Best Restaurant award at the Mayor of Lewisham Business Awards 2023.

This family-run restaurant first opened its doors in 1985 and has been in business for 38 years, serving gourmet Indian cuisine.

It offers diners a gourmet Indian dining experience, along with a menu of crafted cocktails.

Its menu features a range of innovative Indian dishes including a swordfish tikka masala and mango brulée.

Brockley's Rock, Brockley

Monday to Saturday 12pm - 10pm
Sunday 2pm - 10pm

Brockley's Rock was named in the Fish and Chips Category at the Good Food Awards 2023/24.

Their food is prepared on site with vegan and gluten free options available.

Copper & Ink, Blackheath

Wednesday to Saturday 12pm - 11:30pm
Sunday to Tuesday closed

Copper and Ink was named as one of Britain's Top 100 Restaurants in the Good Food Guide 2023.

Based in Blackheath Village, Copper and Ink first opened in 2019, run by MasterChef finalist Tony Rodd along with partner Becky Cummings, offering guests a fine dining experience without the need to travel into central London.

The restaurant offers a monthly changing seasonal menu made with locally sourced ingredients created by Tony alongside Head Chef Rob Parks, who was a MasterChef semi-finalist in 2015.

Saka Maka, Hither Green

Opening Times:

Sunday to Thursday 4pm - 10pm
Friday and Saturday 4pm - 10:45pm

Saka Maka in Hither Green was named winner of the Regional Restaurant of the Year for South London award at the Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards 2023.

The restaurant serves Indian cuisine, with some of its most highly rated dishes on Google being their lamb curry and Dhaal Bhukara.
