A wonderful opportunity to purchase a home in Chislehurst's finest road. The house has been decorated to a very high standard with the owners having invested a considerable amount of time and effort to create a home full of charm and character. With so many properties over recent years having a neutral colour scheme, it's lovely to see a property with personality.

Positioned at the far end of the road, it is situated on the inner section overlooking the green. The house is on a semi-circular plot, positioned at the back of the site with the majority of the garden either side and to the front.

To the ground floor there is large reception room which is currently furnished as an open plan drawing room with dining area. This then leads through into a cosy room which doubles as TV and reading room. One of my favourite rooms is the additional sitting room with French doors leading out to the garden. The country farm house style kitchen is beautifully appointed with Lacanche Range cooker and quarry tiled floor complimenting the theme. There is a separate utility room. A home office is situated beyond the kitchen, so is separated from the rest of the living spaces, perfect for some peace and quiet to concentrate. A downstairs cloakroom with delightful wallpaper concludes the ground floor accommodation.

The first floor layout has been reconfigured to suit the current owners needs and has a large bright landing. The bathrooms are beautifully appointed, having been re-fitted as wet rooms with walk in showers and matching natural tiling. The master suite comprises a spacious bedroom, en-suite bathroom with freestanding feature bath and walk in shower. The adjoining fitted dressing room provides plenty of wardrobe space and a central storage unit. The second bedroom has an ensuite shower room. The guest bedroom has the family bathroom next to it and also provides access to a large storage cupboard. Access to the large loft is via the pull-down ladder, providing further storage or room for expansion.

Planning permission was obtained in 2015 to extend the house creating a substantially kitchen/living space with double garage beneath. The plans also included the conversion of the loft into a large bedroom with ensuite, so that when completed it the house would be a large 5 bedroom family home. The planning has now lapsed but we can share the plans with you.

A little history:- The Camden Park Estate with its manor house, Camden Place, gained notoriety when it became home in exile of Napoleon the Third, Emperor of the French, and the Imperial Family in 1870. The death of the Emperor in 1873 left the widowed Empress in residence until she moved to Hampshire. In 1890 the estate was put up for sale and the William Willetts, father and son, property developers purchased the estate. They had a vision for a much larger scale development originally, but there was local opposition and the compromise was for Camden Place to become Chislehurst Golf Club with Camden Park Road and Wilderness Road created to provide substantial homes. The first homes in Wilderness Road were occupied in 1906 and the remainder of the road was developed predominantly between then and the late 1930's. Ways End was completed in 1935 and its first owner was George Royds. Today there are 31 properties in the road with the 32nd under construction.

Footnote by Richard Piddock, Partner at jdm. "I am fortunate to have had the privilege of visiting many of Chislehurst's finest homes in the most sought after roads, yet still now after 20 plus years of working in Chislehurst, on entering Wilderness Road it has the ability to surprise you as to just how wonderful a road it is. It is truly a hidden gem.''
