Coming up to the August Bank Holiday weekend, South London residents should be aware that there will be changes to their bin collections over the following week.

The bank holiday falls on Monday, August 28, this year, and Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich councils have updated their bin collection schedules accordingly.

Listed below are the changes made to bin collection schedules from Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich Councils for the August Bank Holiday.

Bexley

Residents living in Bexley borough have been advised that there will be no bin collections on the bank holiday, August 28.

Collection dates between August 28 and September 1 have each been pushed back by one day accordingly.

This means that if you are expecting your rubbish to be collected on August 31, it will be picked up on September 1 instead.

Bexley Council has said normal services will resume on September 4, and ask residents to leave their rubbish and recycling out at the front edge of their homes before 6am.

The authority has said local recycling banks across the borough are expected to be particularly busy and recommend residents take their recycling home if banks are full, as they may be fined if waste is fly-tipped beside banks.

Two reuse and recycling centres will also be open over the weekend.

Locations include Thames Road in Crayford and Maidstone Road in Foots Cray, both of which are open from 7.30am to 4pm.

Bromley

Those living in Bromley borough can also expect their usual collection date to be a day later between August 28 and September 1, the same as those living in Bexley.

Bromley Council has said that those who subscribe to the green garden waste collection service can expect these bins to be picked up on the usual collection day.

Bromley residents can also use the Churchfield Road reuse and recycling centre in Beckenham and the centre on Waldo Road to dispose of their home waste and recycling.

The centres are open on August 28 from 8am to 4pm.

Greenwich

Greenwich Council has advised bin collection dates across the borough will be affected the same way as Bexley and Bromley, with collections being a day later until September 1.

The authority have also advised residents to leave their bins out before 6am on the revised collection day.

Rubbish will be collected between 6am and 8pm on the assigned day.

The council has also said that clinical waste collections will not be affected by the bank holiday weekend.

Locals can use the reuse and recycling centre on Nathan Way in Abbey Wood, which will be open between 9am and 4.30pm on August 28.
