Last week, Twitter was awash with wild rumours about Tim Cahill’s imminent return to the Den. Cahill is without a club at the moment and with the World Cup approaching, reports in the Aussie press suggested SE16 would be the perfect environment for him to get up to speed before one last hurrah on the international stage. I must admit, I was completely and utterly engrossed in the social media furore, frantically searching for the appropriate meme or gif to express my undying love for the bloke. The rational part of my brain would probably have said signing a 38-year-old was nothing short of daft. On this occasion though, rational thought wasn’t required. This is Tim Cahill. TIM CAHILL!

A solid point away at Cardiff City on Saturday means the Lions are now closer to the top six than they are the bottom three.

During the last international break, I was desperate for the domestic campaign to start again. This time around, I think a break is just what the Lions need. After some great performances at home to Leeds and Reading, last weekend’s surprise defeat to Barnsley was a bit of a reality check. Seen by some as a chance to get one over the Tykes after their Wembley victory in 2016, Saturday was a damp squib from start to finish.

The international break is used by a lot of clubs as a time to assess the season so far and give players a chance to recharge their batteries.

So, the novelty of Championship football has worn off, hasn’t it?

Having spent most of the summer watching Millwall's play-off final winner accompanied by Celine Dion’s soundtrack on repeat, the new season kicks off today with a trip to Nottingham Forest. 

So, here we are again.

So it's the A477, A40, A48, M4, M3 and M25. That's the route I will be taking to get back in time for Millwall's trip to Wembley.

Well I said the play-offs would be a closely fought affair, but after Sunday’s victory at Valley Parade, there’ll be a few supporters already making preliminary plans for their pre-Wembley pub crawl.

Well that's it. Another nine months following the Lions is almost up. Unlike last season, I've not wanted this one to end.
