Notice of Invalid Petition pursuant to Regulation 14(2) of Local Authorities (Referendums) (Petitions) (England) Regulations 2011 (as amended)
In the Matter of the London Borough of Croydon and a Petition to Change the Council's Constitutional Arrangements as set-out in the Local Authorities (Referendums) (Petitions) (England) Regulations 2011 (as amended)
A Petition has been received by the Council dated 3rd September 2020 ('the Petition Date') which sought for the Council to be run in a different way, as in by a Mayor who is elected by voters for the area which the Council serves.
This Petition has been determined to be an invalid petition pursuant to Regulation 9(1 )(c), as amended by the Local Government and Police and Crime Commissioner (Coronavirus) (Postponement of Elections and Referendums) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020.
The reason why the Council deems the Petition to be invalid is because a valid petition is one which is presented to the local authority to whom it is addressed on a day other than the period beginning with the 16th March 2020 and ending with 5th May 2021.
The Petition is available at the Council Offices at the Town Hall, Katharine Street, Croydon, CR9 1 DE for inspection by members of the public at all reasonable times and free of charge. The Council is currently allowing any inspection to take place by appointment only on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the times of 9.30am and 5.00pm. Please email
to arrange an appointment.
The Council's address is the Town Hall, Katharine Street, Croydon, CR9 1 DE.
