A31 TRUNK ROAD - NEAR RINGWOOD TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A31 Trunk Road in the Counties of Dorset and Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to authorise:-
1) the phased overnight closure of:
a) the westbound carriageway of the A31 between Ashley Heath Roundabout (A338) and Woolsbridge Roundabout;
b) the eastbound carriageway of the A31 between the exit slip road and the entry slip road at Ashley Heath Roundabout
c) the eastbound carriageway of the A31 between Ringwood Interchange (A338) and Picket Post;
d) the road leading to the westbound carriageway of the A31 at Ashley Heath
e) the road leading to the eastbound carriageway of the A31 at Salisbury Road
f) the roads leading to and from the eastbound carriageway of the A31 at Poulner Hill Junction;
g) the road leading from the eastbound carriageway of the A31 at Picket Post, including the link road leading to the junction with the road leading to Burley;
h) all of the side roads at junction with any of a) - g) above; and
i) all of the bus stops adjacent to any of a) - g) above; and
2) the 24-hour closure of all of the lay-bys adjacent to any of 1) a) - g) above.
These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing, road-marking, stud renewal and all associated works.
It is expected that the work would last for
approximately 10 days starting on or after
Tuesday 1st September 2020. The overnight
closures would take place between 21:00 and
06:00 (maximum period).
The Order would come into force on
30 August 2020 and have a maximum duration
of eighteen months, ceasing when the works
Traffic affected by the closure in 1) b) above would be directed to leave the carriageway and re-join after the junction. Traffic affected by the remainder of the closures 1) a) and c-g) would be diverted using other junctions on the A31, and by using the A36, A338, A347, A348, and A3060. The diversion in operation would vary according to the closure in force. The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
