THE M56 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 9-12 EASTBOUND & WESTBOUND CARRIAGEWAYS & SLIP & LINK ROADS) AND THE M6 MOTORWAY (LINK ROADS) [TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2020 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M56 Motorway in the Boroughs of Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Warrington and Halton, in the County of Cheshire, to enable resurfacing works, carriageway repairs, and other maintenance; to be carried out in safety. The Order will:
that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M56 Motorway in the Boroughs of Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Warrington and Halton, in the County of Cheshire, to enable resurfacing works, carriageway repairs, and other maintenance; to be carried out in safety. The Order will:
a) impose a 50 mile speed limit on the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the M56 Motorway between Mag Lane Bridge and Pillmoss Lane Bridge.

b) ban all traffic from the following sections of the M56 Motorway:

i. the westbound carriageway, from the last point at which the J9 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the J9 entry slip road joins the carriageway;
Ii. the eastbound carriageway, from the last point at which the J9 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the J9 entry slip road joins the carriageway;
Iii. the westbound carriageway, from the last point at which the J10 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the J10 entry slip road joins the carriageway;
iv. the eastbound carriageway, from the last point at which the J10 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the J10 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

v. the westbound J9 entry slip road, from the last point at which it leaves the M6 J20/J20A northbound exit slip road, to the first point at which it joins the M56 westbound carriageway;

vi. the westbound J9 exit slip road, from the last point at which it leaves the carriageway, to the point at which it joins with the M6 J20A slip road, via the M6 northbound carriageway;

vii. the westbound entry and exit slip roads atJ12;

viii. the eastbound J9 entry slip road, from the first point at which it leaves the M6 J20A southbound entry slip road, to the last point at which it joins the M56 eastbound carriageway;

Ix. the M56 eastbound to M6 southbound link road;
x. the M6 southbound to M56 westbound link road.
c) allow the hard shoulder adjacent to the M56 motorway, as described in a) i and ii above to be used as a running lane. A 50 miles per hour speed limit will be in force on the hard shoulder when used as a running lane.

Restrictions a) and c) and prohibitions b) v-x are expected to take place overnight between 20:00 and 05:00 (07:00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Monday 10 August 2020 and ending on Monday 30 November 2020. Prohibitions b) i-iv are expected to take place overnight between 21:00 and 05:00 (07:00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings), between the same dates.
However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed.
Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M56 and M6 Motorways and local roads will be well signed.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance or traffic officer vehicles. The restrictions and prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 9 August 2020 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months. For further information, contact
