A major emergency services presence has been pictured on a quiet road after an incident in Elmers End.

A child was found injured in Croydon Road near Long Lane just after 7pm yesterday (May 15). 

London Ambulance Service and an air ambulance were called to the scene.

The child was taken to hospital for treatment where their condition is unknown. 

The nature of the incident also remains unknown.

Croydon Road can be seen cordoned off by police officers and fire crews in pictures as the incident was being dealt with.

We have contacted Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade for further information. 

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 7:06pm today (May 15) to reports of an incident near Long Lane in Croydon.

“We sent resources to the scene including ambulance crews, a member of our Motorcycle Response Unit, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer.

"We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance.

“We treated a child at the scene before taking him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
