Building social skills through sport

Sport is a pretty big thing for most people, a source of entertainment, fun, despair and shock and awe.

It's not only the watching of sport, but the playing as well.

A lot can be gained from sports, for a start it develops your physical skills, being the most obvious.

It can also help your communication and teamwork, aiding social skills, and make you feel good about yourself.

But watching can also give you a source of enjoyment, especially while in a group. It gives you a sense of community feeling, like-minded individuals sharing opinions on something they all like to do, or in this case, watch.

The watching and playing of sport is important, and can really help people to make friends, whilst doing things they enjoy and developing mentally and physically.

These things are important. Being pleasing in appearance can help people to feel good about themselves and the way they look, and can help other people notice, too!

Mental development however can be shown with strategy formulating in the middle of a game, increasing your capacity for quick thinking.

This can be of use academically, allowing for quick mental recall of information.

Both of these are important for being healthy, along with being socially developed.

Social skills are probably the most important of the three things mentioned, because being socially healthy can help your mindset and physicality.

Health in itself is defined as a state of complete mental, social and physical wellbeing, rather than the mere absence of disease or infirmity.

To get this state of health, it is important to do some sort of sport, and preferably with friends to help with the social aspect.

It's important! Make sure you can do it, and have fun while doing it.

Hey Josh,

while I do agree with you that in some situaions sport can be of use when attempting to build social relationships, I do think that in some cases too much sport can be a bad thing.

For instance, it has been proven than too much sport, as in, two hours per day can cause a high likelyhood of a heart attack at early age. Also, in sporting enviroments tempers can flare up and bad things can happen.

For instance, I was playing football with a few mates when a couple of guys who were up to no good started makeing trouble in my neighbour hood, I got in one little fight and my Mum got scared, she said "you're moving with your Auntie and Uncle in Bel-air!"
