New Thamesmead landmark

The newly named Phoenix Point development currently under construction on the old Boiler House site in Thamesmead took a step closer to completion on Friday 28 March.

Denne Construction hosted a traditional topping out ceremony' to mark the successful completion of an important milestone in the delivery of the project.

Guests included representatives from Gallions Housing Association and the London Borough of Greenwich, Calfordseaden, Stefan Zins, and Walker Associates - to help lay the final piece of concrete to complete the main structure of the building.

This ceremony follows a similar event held at the end of last year on the neighbouring Ringside Court development, formerly known as the Boxing Club site in Thamesmead where Denne and Gallions Housing Association are also working in partnership to provide new housing.

The £14million redevelopment of the two sites is set to play a significant part in the wider regeneration of Thamesmead and will provide much need housing. An interesting mix of 3-bedroom homes and 1 and 2-bedroom apartments will be available for rent and shared ownership later this year.

Nick Brown, Construction Director, Denne Construction, said: "We were delighted to be selected to construct this prestigious project and to work with such competent designers and supply chain companies. Friday marked a significant point in the construction of this new landmark building for Thamesmead."

Ian Beckett, Director of Development, Gallions Housing Association said: "Once this building has been completed, it will provide much needed accommodation. It will also be a new focal point for Thamesmead, not only due to its location, but also its eye-catching design. We are aiming to create homes and communities that people are proud off. This new development will go a long way to helping achieve that".
