The Birchmere Cup 2008
Due to the amount of teams already signed-up for the Birchmere Cup, Birchmere F.C. has been able to reduce the cost of participation for the Birchmere Cup - a London and Southeast-wide football tournament.
Birchmere F.C. will be hosting the 2008 Birchmere Cup at Goals Soccer Centre in Bexleyheath. The tournament will run 10:00am-5:00pm, 18-22 August 2008, with each day being dedicated to one of the age groups of under 10's to under 15's.
Mark Thompson, Manager of Birchmere F.C said: "We hope to attract between 40 and 48 football teams to participate each day. The tournament will have 6 to 8 groups with the winners progressing on to the finals. If we only have 6 groups, the winner of each group will qualify automatically, with the best 2 runners up taking the 7th and 8th place in the finals. Each team is allowed a maximum of 16 players, with all matches playing roll on/roll off substitutions.
"The group stages will be 5 a side, while the finals will be 7 a side. You are welcome to enter as many teams per age group, if this is done, the teams you enter will be placed in different groups."
Team entry fee is now just £35.00 - This equates to £2.20 per player for a minimum of 6 to 7 matches, you will also receive participation medals (16 medals per team), a trophy and the possibility of a new kit (depending on sponsorship deals) for the overall winner of each age group. As well as this, all matches will be officiated by Goals referees and all matches will be played in a safe environment.
Registration for teams is on a first come, first served basis. Teams on a reserve list will replace any teams that pull out.
There will be a snack shop selling food and drink; programmes will be sold on the door. There may be some celebrities that Goals have contact with, to present trophies to the winning teams.
Mark is aiming to make this the biggest tournament in London. Sponsorship packages are available - you can choose to sponsor the event for as many days as you would like. Part of the sponsorship package will include having your company listed in the programs for the event, have a link from their website to yours and you will be able to place banners up at Goals on the day.
