Local radio station, 103.7FM TGR Sound have just been awarded more than £6,000 funding by the UK's biggest classic hits radio station, Gold.
Gold radio station teamed up with V; the youth volunteering charity to give away £100,000 to local community youth organisations across England and TGR Sound were among the successful candidates.
The V mission is to inspire a new generation of volunteers aged 16-25 in England and is committed to increasing the quantity, quality and diversity of volunteering opportunities to help them get involved in. Projects can cover a variety of ideas that will benefit the community as a whole and can cover a diverse range of activities including music, sports, the arts and the environment to name but a few.
"We are thrilled to be awarded this money," said 103.7FM TGR Sound's Station Manager, Andrew Sayers. "It is a great opportunity for 103.7FM TGR Sound to continue in its aim to benefit our community."
The grant was given away during Wednesday's (19 December 2007) Gold Radio Breakfast Show, when David Jensen and Erika North phoned while the Andy Sayers Breakfast Show was on-air.
Gold Radio Network Station Director, Andy Turner said: "We are delighted to be involved in supporting this new injection of funding which will offer young people the chance to unleash their potential and make a real and lasting contribution to their communities."
