CARRYING his canoe on a three-mile run helped Alex Briant raise cash for a lifeboat charity.
The Bromley Canoe Club member ran from the club's base at West Wickham swimming baths in Station Road to the Chinese Garage, Wickham Road, Beckenham, and back.
It took him 48 minutes to complete the run while carrying his 14kg canoe.
The 25-year-old, from Forest Hill, raised £177 in donations and sponsorship from club members and friends for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Mr Briant said: "It started off as a silly bet which I decided to do on the day of the run.
"It was quite hard work. I was aching afterwards.
"I'm not sure if I'll do it again but raising money for the RNLI is always worth it."
