West Wickham Methodist Church will be bringing its 75th anniversary year celebrations to a conclusion by holding a special service at the Old Church, Hawes Lane, this Sunday (November 18) at 10.30am.
Former ministers the Revs Norma Browning and David Reep will be in attendance, with Rev Browning acting as preacher and Rev Reep leading the sacrament of holy communion.
The anniversary marks the first meeting, in December 1932, of a handful of people committed to building a new church, leading within a year to the formation of the 37-member-strong West Wickham Methodist Society in October 1933.
In November of that year the first devotional meeting was held at Justin Hall, with an attendance of more than 100 people.
The Old Church building on Hawes Lane eventually opened in April 1935, with the building of the present church completed in October 1960.
All are welcome to attend the service on Sunday.
