All the Fun of the Fayre
The May Fayre celebrations, sponsored by Cook, proved a great success on bank holiday Monday, thanks in part to the glorious weather, but more so for the great variety of entertainment and publicity surrounding this traditional annual event.
Over 30 stall holders presented a variety of wares and entertainment on The day - from children's rides, dance displays and maypole dancing to rabbits, a classic and vintage car display, live band and a police car.
Hundreds of people attended the event to sample the wide range of local goods - with raffles to be won, a treasure hunt to follow, jars of sweets
and treats, lucky dips, face painting and even a clown.
The 30-plus stalls ranged from local charities, clubs and organisations and included the Petts Wood & District Residents Association, the Petts Wood Business Association, community website AboutMyArea - BR5, plus local churches,
businesses and not forgetting the May Queen stall.
Jessica Nemeth was crowned the new May Queen of 2008 by Mayor of Bromley Cllr Pauline
Tunnicliffe on the day who said: "It's great to see such huge support for the May Queen and to continue with this lovely tradition. I'm proud to
Be here today to present the crown to Jessica for her May Queen reign for this year."
Due to the generous donations received this year the May Fayre celebrations will again return next year for another successful event. Proceeds are also being donated to a number of local charities including the May Queen and the Petts Wood Memorial Hall charities.
The organisers (which included the Town Centre Manager, representatives from the Memorial Hall Trust, Petts Wood Residents Association, Petts
Wood Business Association, Safer Neighbourhood Panel, RNLI and the Petts Wood May Queen Group) would like to thank all those involved with the
day and also thank all the local people who supported this event.
