Two of Petts Wood PCSOs, Lindsay Ewins and Dionne Sandall of the Safer Neighbourhood Team have been presented with awards at the Safer Bromley Partnership annual awards ceremony that took place recently.
The prestigious awards were given in recognition of the PCSO's involvement in the recent drugs bust that took place in Petts Wood. The intelligence gathered by the two PCSOs, through their commitment to liaising with the local community and building up strong contacts, led to the successful arrest of two males.
PCSO Sandall said: "It was a surprise to hear that we had won the award as Sgt Kemp had kept it quiet from us and we only found out on the night of the awards when our names were called out. It feels really good to be appreciated."
PCSO Ewins added: "Dionne and I were just going about our day to day job and don't feel like we've done anything different or particularly special, so it was lovely to hear that we'd won an award like this and get recognition from what we've put in."
Praising his two PCSOs Sgt Kemp said: "This is a classic example of what PCSOs are good at. They are the eyes and ears of the community and deal with issues at a local level so they build up a good rapport with the community. PCSO Sandall and Ewins made great groundwork on the drugs case and built up solid intelligence which led to the arrest of two men. Without this information there is little doubt that we wouldn't have got such a great result."
