Package trip to Locksbottom
Pupils from Farnborough Primary School recently paid their annual visit to Sainsbury's store at Locksbottom.
The youngsters learned about packaging used on items, how it is disposed of and how much of it is recycled.
The 23 pupils from Year 5 spent time examining various items but paid special attention to the packaging of Easter eggs.
Particular interest was taken in the disposal of cardboard by machines that crush and turn it into large bales before they are sent off for recycling.
Deirdre Harrison accompanied the group who were also interested to learn that instead of being thrown away unsold meat, fish and vegetables are donated to the local animal sanctuary at Foal Farm, Biggin Hill, to help feed the many animals looked after there.
The visit was rounded off with refreshments plus a chocolate egg for everyone to take back to school.
