THE society held a Members' Postcards evening on July 9 and invited the Croydon Postcard Club (PCC) as guests.

There was a wide variety of displays ranging from Epsom to Bromley, Malta to Istanbul, military themes, railways, sea life and family history.

Helena Butcher, chairman of Croydon PCC, brought along a display entitled Weekend In and Around Canterbury with the British Iris Association, which included views, gardens and heraldry.

Bill Tonkin, secretary and treasurer of the Croydon PCC, showed Cut and Paste, which illustrated the re-use by postcard publishers of people appearing in one card in several others for exhibitions in Britain and Belgium.

The society's next meeting is on August 13, with Members' Recent Acquisitions featured.

All details are on our website at beckenham.net/leisure.asp The society meets in the Public Hall, Bromley Road, Beckenham.

Visitors, guests and new members are always welcome.

For details, call secretary David Rennie on 020 8778 7001 or membership secretary Chris Sands on 020 8402 1263.
