A FEDERATION Day event organised by the Bromley and Beckenham Philatelic Society was held at Langley Park Boys School on May 17.
The newly elected mayor of Bromley, Councillor Denise Reddin, accompanied by the Mayor Consort, her husband Martyn, attended on what was one of her first public engagements.
At the opening ceremony, Graham Boutle, a past president of the Bromley and Beckenham Philatelic Society presented the mayor with a cheque for £100 towards her chosen charities, and also as a personal memento one of the society's special pocket calculators.
Later at the Council Meeting, Graham Boutle was installed as President of the Kent Federation, for a two-year period, during which time he would visit all 21 societies in Kent.
David Rennie, secretary of the society, was also elected as the secretary for the Kent Federation.
There were 27 dealers present from all over the country.
In the county competitions, the society was delighted the winner of the Roy Garland Trophy for traditional philately was Ernie Burkin, a long-standing member.
