NHS Retirement Fellowship (Bromley)

LAST month's meeting welcomed a return visit from Jim Butress, former Royal Parks head gardener and now a garden judge who is involved as a volunteer at Lullingstone, Eynsford.

His topic was the vision of plant hunter Tom Hart Dyke "to create a world garden of plants from around the globe in their respective countries of origin" in the walled two acres of Lullingstone Castle.

Using slides to demonstrate, he told of the amazing growth and development of the new features of the gardens, now including a children's area with totem poles and a treasure hunt.

The garden will be reopening on the Easter weekend through to September. Call 01322 862114 for further details.

The fellowship meets every third Wednesday of the month. Call 0208 462 5411 for more information.
