BROMLEY Little Theatre will hold its first pantomime for 26 years this Friday.

The 113-seat theatre in North Street is showing Cinderella from December 7 to 15.

Organisers are hoping the family production will help attract a new generation of theatre goers.

Artistic director David Evans said: "We have to get a new generation of children interested in drama.

"Getting them in at three or four, if we can hook them then it is the best way of getting them involved and then we will have a new generation of theatre goers."

The play, which will run for 10 performances and two matinees, is selling out quickly.

Mr Evans said: "We are sold out for three quarters of the run but it's not too late for people to become members and get tickets.

"It is going to be completely traditional, everything a pantomime should be.

"We have a wide range of actors and actresses, the oldest is 74 and the youngest is nine-years-old.

"In my view it will be more authentic than the pantomime at the Churchill."

Samantha Brass, the chairman of the theatre, said: "We look to provide an alternative, this play is going to be fantastic and good fun."

Next year will be the theatre's 70th anniversary and in the past actresses such as June Brown and Prunella Scales have performed there before they made their names.

Mr Evans, who has directed 11 plays this year, said: "I'm nervous and excited, but it's a lovely way to wind down for the year."
