Beckenham Civic Society

11:25am Tuesday 6th November 2007

THE new season began with a very interesting talk by Ian McInnes, an architect from the Twentieth Century Society, entitled A Home for all Seasons.

Mr McInnes had toured Beckenham taking photographs of houses and flats built in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s on grounds previously occupied by large Victorian and Edwardian house.

It seems Beckenham has a very high proportion of prestigious town houses, terraced houses and flats built in this period which are architecturally acknowledged to be some of the finest of their type.

The society exists to preserve the best of the past and have a voice in the future of Beckenham.

Meetings are held monthly on Thursday in the Public Hall and new members are very welcome.
