THE speaker at last month's meeting runs a shop in Crayford where she designs and makes hats and fascinators for special occasions to buy or hire - one of the few such shops still existing in this country.
Members were given updates on the progress of Janet Eavis and Kathleen Bhinda, who sadly fell ill at the same time.
They are both hardworking officers and members of the committee.
Members wished them well, and hope to have them back with the institute in the near future.
They also had to say farewell to Margaret Holden, who is moving to West Moors.
She has been with the institute for many years and members will certainly not forget her infectious laugh and superb craftwork.
She was presented with flowers.
Margaret said she hopes to visit sometimes.
Reminders were given about theCray District conference, where this year's entertainer will be Martyn Harrison.
Names were taken for a ten-pin bowling session, and a couple of future outings were suggested.
Members were reminded about the District Carol Service in December.
The institute meets on the fourth Monday of each month at the District Scouts Headquarters, Mayplace Road West, Bexleyheath, which is easily accessible by public transport and also has a car park.
Meetings start sharply at 7.45pm and members try to be there by 7.30pm.
For more information on the institute, call 020 8475 3713.
