THE last meeting before the summer break was somewhat different.
Instead of having a speaker, several members recited their favourite poems, parts of which caused a great deal of laughter.
Members sat about six to each table and did not just sit with their well-known friends, in order to get to know other people better.
There were two quizzes on each table to be completed by pooling everyone's ideas.
A box of sweets was presented to the winning table to be shared among the team.
There were also refreshments and it was a very jolly evening.
Notices were given out about future events, including the usual August meal out instead of a meeting and the paddle steamer river trip from Rochester.
Names were taken for the next ten-pin bowling session.
The paddle steamer river trip was an enjoyable experience and well attended.
Members ate in the Cathedral tea room before visited a small museum afterwards.
As there were many other places they would have liked to have visited, another trip to Rochester is being planned.
The meal out was very well attended and the atmosphere, food and company were thoroughly enjoyed.
The institute meets on the fourth Monday of each month at the district Scouts headquarters in Mayplace Road West, Bexleyheath.
