12:20pm Tuesday 4th September 2007

MEMBERS of Bexley RSPB Group have raised another large sum for the charity.

Leader John Turner recently sent off a cheque for £4,500 to RSPB headquarters to be used for bird conservation and welfare.

The Bexley group, founded 28 years ago, has now raised a total of £58,000 for the RSPB.

Cash was raised from plant and Christmas fairs, raffles, a 100 club, indoor meetings and coach trips.

The group, which includes members based between Blackheath and Bean, has asked for its latest donation to be used towards developing a new RSPB nature reserve at Cliffe Pools near Gravesend.

Details of the group's activities can be found at the website bexleyrspb.org.uk
