Council must sort rat issue for good

I TOTALLY agree with your star letter writer regarding the rat problem (We Have To Pester Council About Rats, News Shopper, May 7).

I too had a problem with rats last year and had to pay £51 to get rid of them.

I was not earning a wage or due for my pension at the time, so this was a big chunk out of my savings but I was just relieved to get the job done.

Unfortunately, my neighbour has just spotted a rat in her garden.

So what happens now?

Does she have to fork out another £51? If so, what's to say this will be the end of it.

With all the roads which are being dug up in and around the Beckenham area, I cannot imagine it will be the last one we see.

I too think this problem should be dealt with by Bromley and paid for out of our council tax contributions.

Otherwise, people are only going to be put off reporting the problem.

Consequently, the situation is going to only get much worse.
