FOLLOWING concerns about Holocaust education (Holocaust Shame, News Shopper, April 30), we would like to make clear, to our knowledge, the Holocaust will remain a mandatory component of the National Curriculum.
The Government has supported Holocaust education in schools, and in February this year it announced the continuation of funding for the Holocaust Educational Trust's Lessons from Auschwitz project, which includes a one- day visit to the former Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Holocaust education gives students the chance to understand the dangers and potential effects of prejudice and racism today.
