Parking fees hike

I HAVE received a letter from the permit parking section of the London Borough of Bromley, in which it is stated the cost of a parking permit has been increased from £25 to £35, an increase of 40 per cent.

The letter states: "This is the first increase in charges for four years", as if by their gallant efforts they have kept parking outside your own home down to a measly £25.

You have to ask how the cost of operating the scheme has risen by 40 per cent in only four years.

Was it seriously under costed four years ago? Or has the operational cost risen by 40 per cent in just four years?

The cynic might think this is just another ploy to extract additional income from the residents of Bromley.

Same here in Bexley. I wrote to the councillor in charge of traffic. Apparently, the fact that costs have not increased for a few years is justification enough for increasing them now by over FIVE times the rate of inflation!

Yep, I wrote to LB Bexley about my resident parking permit and haven't actually received a reply at all! I assume the extra revenues are not being invested in customer service!

It's appalling - and there's essentially nothing we can do about it other than pay up and shut up. And they know that.
