I FEEL I must write in response to a letter from W Elliott (Keep Town Hall To Honour War Heroes, News Shopper, April 23).
The thrust of Mr Elliott's letter is Crayford Town Hall should become a monument to the memory of Crayford residents and those who served on active service who paid the ultimate price.
This particular building is not fit for purpose let alone as a memorial, but I am proud to be an elected member of a ward who played a pivotal part in preserving our freedom of speech, freedom of choice and the greatest democracy in the world.
I also believe they would have wanted to secure Crayford's future, which is what I and my colleagues are working for.
I also feel obliged to state the analogy between Bexley Council and those who support this proposal and the Nazi airforce to be not only deeply sad but deeply offensive and repugnant.
