A POET from Watford has had work published in a millennium anthology.

Mr Kevin Erickson's poem Memory of Life was published after he entered it in a contest to find the best poem of the 20th Century.

Although he did not win the competition, the work features in the International Library of Poetry's Memories of the Millennium.

Mr Erickson, of Loweswater Close, Watford, began writing poetry ten years ago, inspired by the works of Byron, Wordsworth and Tennyson.

Although he has no formal training, he has had several poems published including Land of Oz, which is based on his childhood upbringing in Australia.

His poems, which always in rhyme, are inspired by his life experiences and revolve around life, love and death.

His has also written several short stories, including The Dance of Death, based on his cousin's drowning.

A semi-retired accountant, Mr Erickson came to England in the 1970's and has been living in Watford for 18 years.

He is also an able sportsman and was fond of playing tennis until his knee surgery two years, which he summed up in his ode to his surgeon.

He eventually hopes to publish a collection of his poems.
