Firm’s inaction is insult to disabled

Comments (0)THE campaign by St Cecilia's Cheshire Home to get access for disabled people at Bromley South station should be widely supported (Disabled Ramp And Rage At Station Stairs, News Shopper, September 3).
Southeastern should not need to be reminded the lack of disabled access at Bromley South is against the law.
From October 2004, the Disability Discrimination Act of 1995 requires all service providers, including, of course, rail services, to ensure people with physical disabilities are not treated less favourably than other people.
This is the main requirement of this act.
Under the terms of the act, since 2004, service providers were required to make alterations to their buildings to ensure there is no discrimination.
It is a disgrace Southeastern has made no alterations at Bromley South to provide access for disabled people.
A promise for step-free access by 2013, nine years after it should have been started, shows the contempt Southeastern, Network Rail and Transport for London have for disabled people.
