I WENT for a walk with my three children to the Pleasaunce at Well Hall on April 19.
I have two boys, six-year-old Henry and Sidney, five, and a one-year-old daughter, Emily.
Sid has special needs. He suffers seizures, autism and severe global developmental delay, making his mental age that of an 18-month-old.
He managed to get lost. My daughter was upset in her buggy so I briefly comforted her, and when I looked for Sid just seconds after last checking he was close by, he was gone.
I searched for 15 minutes, shouting, running and, by the end, crying.
Luckily a couple who I know from my oldest son's school looked after my other two children and helped my search.
I called the police, who responded very quickly and joined the search.
After an hour a couple walked into the park with a very distraught Sid.
They had seen him by the main road just down from the railway bridge, the police cars and the police in the park.
They realised Sid must have had something to do with what was happening.
I have written this letter to say an enormous thank you to the couple who found my son.
He can't deal with strangers but this couple still took him to the police in the park rather than just walking by.
I wish we had got their names and spent time thanking them, but hopefully the couple or someone who knows them will read this.
