While exams are peeping from around the corner, this is also an important time for students to begin to take up senior roles in school.

The applications for prefects and head girl are now opening; our year 10 students are hastily handing them in and doing their best to make their applications stand out. It is definitely an interesting sight to see so many forms being filed out everywhere, and students asking their peers to try and remember all contributions made to the school!

Many students are very enthusiastic about gaining important life skills beginning from school. For example, skills such as leadership, communication and management skills are extremely advantageous for when you apply for jobs or universities in the future. Leadership roles which allow you to learn these skills are very prestigious and also greatly benefit your resumed due to the responsibility and commitment required for them.

But what else do you get from these responsibilities?

Claramae and Eniola, two very optimistic year 10 students who are running for head girl believe that while you also gain leadership skills, you also "build experience," learn to "work cohesively in a team" and "be able to communicate effectively."

One of our senior prefects, who wishes to remain anonymous, also agrees with Claramae and Eniola's ideas and added that "it shows colleges and universities you are able to work under pressure and make good decisions when limited."
She advises for all students running to "have confidence in yourself, don't be nervous and know your application, so you can make the best impression of yourself to the teachers and the team"

And to students unsure if they should take part, she enthusiastically said "Yes! Definitely take this amazing opportunity because if you can do it, do it."
