This month was the month in which one of the most iconic and infamous writers was born.

One April day in 1564, William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, one of the most famous writers, poet and actor.

Little did he know, that one day, his name will be mentioned in theatres across the world.

That his plays would be studied by thousands of students and be the best-selling fiction author of all time. Selling over four billion copies of his plays and poems.

“All that glitters is not gold”. This is something you may hear someone say on a daily basis.

This was written by Shakespeare. Shakespeare created many words and phrases we still use to this day.

Shakespeare’s history is not very clear, as we don’t really have any proper information that tells us about his life. There are no birth records, but we do know when he was baptised. His baptism took place on 26th April 1564. This tells us that his birthdate could be around 23rd April. This is also World Book Night. It is a celebration of reading and a day to encourage people to start reading. Books are gifted to hospitals, schools, prisons and homeless shelters.

William Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway on November 28, 1582. They had three children together. Their first child was called Susanna and born on May 26, 1583. Their twins, Hamnet and Judith were born on February 2, 1585. However, Hamnet at the age of eleven from unknown causes.
