It’s finally 2018! It’s a chance for a new beginning, a new way to live or an opportunity to experience different and unique things. The most known and popular way to do this is a new year’s resolution.

New year resolutions are created personally for one specific person so that it suits them. They are based on something that someone thinks they can improve on or something they want to try and achieve. They can be anything from travelling the world to going to the gym more regularly. Some of the most popular new year resolutions are: eat healthier, lose weight, quit smoking or drinking and spend more time with family and friends. Some more unusual new year resolutions are: make a new friend a month, try a new food each week, learn a new hobby/skill and break a record.

Although new year resolutions are easy to make, they are a lot harder to stick to. For example, if your new year’s resolution is to cut down on chocolate, it is hard to not to be persuaded by and eat all the chocolate given to you at Christmas. Even though it is hard to be committed to your new year’s resolution, here are some ways that will keep help you stay committed: involve other people, make exceptions, make them realistic and keep track of your progress. Some say that new year resolutions are “one of the hardest things to stay committed to”.

A new year’s resolution is a great way to start off 2018. So, this year try and make a different but realistic new years resolution but try to stick to it.
