Though this may be stating the obvious, much of the UK is currently experiencing lots of snow at the current time. However, much of the South has today woken up to the seemingly phenomenal event of settling snow. But what are the current updates from the Met Office in Bexley and who will be affected by this extreme weather?

The current weather, being described as a ‘snow bomb’, is causing mass changes to the South’s climate. In Bexley, we are currently experiencing highs of 3°C and lows of 0°C. A yellow warning was issued by Met Office in Bexley for strong winds between 4am and 3pm, with consequences such as ‘Some short term loss of power and other services is possible, as well as some delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges.’ However, it has now been removed as conditions begin to calm down. We are seeing winds from the North-West at approximately 12 MPH to 9MPH. Along with this, there is an expected 90% snowfall currently with Feels like Temperatures around -4°C and very poor visibility (although is set to improve later in the day to moderate.) Furthermore, there is a 99% to 97% humidity rating. The overall weather today and tonight is summed up in the following statement by Met Office: ‘Snow over central parts turning lighter and patchier overnight, while moving south. Clearer in the north with a few wintry showers. A locally severe frost and isolated freezing fog patches.’ It’s definitely time to wrap up warm if you planning on going out in Greater London today.

Conditions are set to worsen tomorrow (Monday) with yet another yellow warning, this time for ice, in Bexley. Amongst other problems, Met Office has warned that ‘Some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer and more difficult journeys.’ This will have a lasting impact, especially on students and workers traveling out on many modes of transport. The telegraph newspaper supports these views, stating from forecasters that this is ‘The worst snowfall in years’ which will result ‘in chaos for commuters on Monday’ possibly even ‘cutting off rural communities.’ This warning has been issued from 4am to 11pm tomorrow. Temperatures will reach highs of 2°C and lows of -2°C whilst winds will reach highs of 13MPH. Percentage of snow tomorrow is expected to reach highs of 80% at 9am. A summary statement for the conditions tomorrow in Bexley are as followed: ‘Windy in the southeast on Monday with outbreaks of rain, sleet and hill snow. Elsewhere, very cold with some sunshine, and with some wintry showers in the north and west.’

It’s clear that these harsh climates are here to stay for the moment but Met Office shows promising signs of better weather as we transition to Tuesday.
